Return to Using Portfolio

Students may wish to print parts of their portfolio to take to interviews. Utilize the print version to showcase work you have done and also promote viewing your online portfolio, and be sure to leave promotional cards.

How to get started:

  • Set up your Job Search Account with EPCS
  • Make an appointment with EPCS for consultation and help in printing and organizing by calling 608-262-1755.
    • Bring your portfolio files storage device (i.e., USB/flash drive or Zip disk) to save the print version files.
    • Printing parts of you e-portfolio will take approximately 1 hour.
  • What should you include: You will be able to print up to 15 pages free of charge, so selection is important
    • A select set of items that best reflect your best abilities-- going through your portfolio and selecting the items you would like to print prior to coming to EPCS to print your portfolio will quicken the printing process
    • Not every principal wants to see the same thing-- build your portfolio with a select set of items that best reflect your abilities
    • Principals generally want to see one or two of your best lesson plans, student work, and perhaps an example of assessment. Be certain to remove any identifying information from the student work especially student's name
    • A current educational philosophy
    • Pages with images such as photos, student work, assessments, etc. are visually appealing
  • Some organizing concept examples:
    • Include an outline for a curriculum unit and a lesson from the unit. Your goal here is to show how you align your actual teaching with goals of the curriculum
    • Include an assessment example that shows that you have aligned your assessment with your goals for the lesson
    • Include student work that shows it's alignment with your goals for the lesson
  • How do you do it:
    • We have set up a method that allows students to print parts of their portfolios to create a paper portfolio
    • We have a color laser printer especially for the purpose
    • The resulting printout is of very good quality
    • We can also help you with black and white printouts
    • We are required to recover our supplies and services budget so do need to charge for services though we have kept them very low
    • Some template pages are very difficult to print nicely so we highly suggest coming in so you can print your best work
    • If you want to try it on your own we will attempt to explain the process but again would prefer to help you with this in person so that you get a good result
